Howler MonkeysHowler monkeys (Red) are among the largest species of monkeys in the world. Native to South and Central American forests, such as Costa Rica, these monkeys are famous for their loud howls, which can travel up to three miles through dense forest. Although their howls may seem terrifying, these monkeys are herbivores which means that they only eat plants. Their diet consists of fruits, flowers, and nuts. Their noses are very good and can smell up to 2km away due to the many sensory hairs growing in their noses. On average, they have life spans of up to 20 years. Surprisingly, these creatures are seldom aggressive. The Howler Monkey has a strong, prehensile tails which support their entire body weight as they move from branch to branch in the canopy of the rain forest.
