Endemic SpeciesCosta Rica is the home to a wide variety of species including some endemic. An endemic species is a species that is confined to a specific area and can only be found there. The reason for the large amount of endemic species is Costa Rica's 12 different tropical time zones: Dry, moist, wet, and rain forests in tropical, premontane, and sub-alpine areas. Although not big, but with a wide variety of habitats suitable for almost every type of species, Costa Rica is the ideal home for many species and is the reason why there are so many endemic species living in the area.
