Harris's OlingoHarris's Olingo (Bassaricyon lasius) is a species of Olingo that is endemic to Costa Rica and is only found in the Cordillera Central. Having a similar body structure to that of a raccoon, the Harris's Olingo is tree-dwelling and arboreal animal. Found as low as sea level, the Harris's Olingo is found as low as sea level but are commonly found in the tropical rainforests due to the large amount of trees. With an average weight of about 1.2 kg, the Harris's Olingo is nocturnal which means that it only comes out an night. Adults range from 36 to 42 centimeters. With the population decreasing due to deforestation, Harris's Olingo are becoming much more rare. Humans are the largest cause of death for these creatures because of the conversion of their habitat for agriculture and settlement. Harris's Olingo is found from Nicaragua through Costa Rica and western Panama. The Harris's Olingo is slender with relatively large ears and short round ears. . Its diet consists of fruit, especially figs.
